It's time for a new life, friends!
Mackenzie left Bruxelles on a unanimous vote to little fanfare, and then Carrie made her return from Exile shortly after with the news all of us had been expecting: it's time to swap!
As it turns out, all my predictions in the previous page turned out to mean absolutely nothing, because instead of three tribes of six headed up by Carrie, Simon and Glyn, we ended up with two tribes of nine: NuBruxelles, captained by Carrie, and NuAmsterdam, captained by Simon. As the captain who finished the challenge last, Luxembourg was disbanded, and Glyn had his choice of which tribe to join between the choices Carrie and Simon went with.
I have no idea how in the world I possibly got this lucky, but Carrie came through in a big way with the tribe she chose. In the best turn of events so far, Carrie managed to draft me, Burnie AND Julia to her tribe, where we remain on Bruxelles Beach and where we can continue to try and find this stupid idol before someone else can. No more sports chatter with Ricky. No more sending hopeful hello messages into the void that is my chat log with Shelli. I'm here with three members of my tribe I feel like I can trust no matter what happens, and THAT is huge.
The new tribes (and possible drafting order? Burnie thinks it is):
NuBruxelles: Carrie, Dustin, Dorothy, Kathy, Julia, Tim, Burnie, Jaclyn, Ian
NuAmsterdam: Simon, Steuart, Cody, Shelli, Austin, Jasmine, Natalie, Ricky, Glyn
Of course, OG Bruxelles is outnumbered here by the Amsterdam and Luxembourg members, but I think we all expected this. The good news is that we may be able to maneuver ourselves a solid majority here regardless, given the social skills between Triple Helix and the connections Burnie/Carrie have built with Tim/Dustin on Exile. Even if the worst comes to pass, there's a chance we can all make it out of here in one piece...provided NO ONE from OG Bruxelles goes to Exile this round and encourages Tim/Dustin to vote against OG Bruxelles anyway.

I'm so pumped to finally have some new people to talk to. From the looks of things, the five new people are already miles ahead socially of Ricky and Shelli, and with luck, they'll also be online more often than Steuart. I'm already really thrilled about how well I've been able to get along with them so far, even if the chatting slowed down as the night went on. I'll renew my effort tonight, but here are my first impressions of NuBruxelles, including updated thoughts on my OG tribemates.
Carrie: Jesus took the wheel and provided us with a really favorable swap. To my surprise, Carrie told me that I was her first pick, and if the order Katia copy/pasted the tribe members in the new tribe chat actually does correspond to the drafting order, I really was the first OG Bruxelles she chose. I can't deny that felt awesome, especially because I thought she was closer with Julia than she was with me, but I guess we really have bonded better than I thought we have. It makes me feel a little bad, too, because if any OG Bruxelles end up targeted, I would rather it be her instead of any of the Triple Helix members. She did share with me the idol clue she got, which is the same clue Burnie showed me two rounds ago, but the fact that she shared it with me in the first place is a good sign. I don't know how well she'll connect to the new people, but I think I can count on her to stay by the Bruxelles. I need to ask her about Dustin still - I hope they really did connect.
Dustin: He came on a bit later than the others, but I did get a chance to touch base with him. He seems pleasant enough! I feel pretty bad because I sort of ended up dropping off the map later in the evening right as we were getting ready to talk about TV shows, but we've bonded over Parks and Recreation, and that's always a good start, right? I'll talk to him more tonight and hopefully come off as less of a conversation dropper. I want Dustin on my side, and he won't do that if I suck at conversations with him.
Dorothy: I think she's pretty cool. Number one ally material!
Kathy: I didn't get to talk to Kathy very much - she dropped our convo, but we still were able to interact briefly. I congratulated her on the Sporacle challenge since we ended up tying on it, and we also talked about cooking...and cheesecake, objectively the best dessert in the world (I will fight anyone who says otherwise). If things go according to plan, I'll likely be voting against her and her old Luxembourg tribemates, but I certainly don't dislike Kathy, and it behooves me to befriend her more and find out more about her.
Julia: The Bruxelles Babes are still together! I would have been sad if GG wasn't with me, and I know I can trust her. I hope she'll kick it into social gear with these other guys. Burnie fears she may get targeted if Carrie won't, but I'm hoping that isn't the case. I'm confident in Julia's ability to connect with Tim and Dustin.
Tim: His relationship with Burnie is absolutely integral to our position on this tribe. Burnie said he got along really well with Tim when they were on Exile together, and Burnie shared with Tim clues he received as a way to lock in his possible support at a swap. Well, here we are, and it's time to cash in. Tim was very nearly voted out in his last TC in a 3-2-1 vote - all I know is that Tim was part of the three that eliminated Holly, but I didn't get the chance to ask if Dustin voted with him or against him. I'm hoping it's the former - securing both Tim and Dustin will be easier if they're already on the same page. At the very least, I want Tim to know he can count on me - I made it a point to say I was looking forward to meeting him after Burnie told me about him, so if I can play up that I'm tight with Burnie too, maybe Tim will trust me. He sounds like a very busy guy irl - he's an office manager looking at over 14 hours of work today. How does he find the time for these things?
Burnie: My right hand to Julia's left hand, Burnie is a dream to work with and we're absolutely on the same page in trying to finagle a way to survive here. His relationship with Tim is our ace in the hole, but he is concerned about the possibility of Tim/Dustin playing the middle. Truthfully I am as well, but it would only really work out if Tim/Dustin are already opposed. If they are, then we NEED to pull in Tim for a fifth. If not, the OG Luxembourgs aren't going to be dumb enough to vote against a swing duo that can get them the numbers they need. I'm counting on Burnie's help to get to the bottom of Tim/Dustin's relationship, and to get whatever our strategy will be settled.
Jaclyn: WALLS. OF. TEXT. I fear Jaclyn will become my new Ricky - she's someone who is single-mindedly obsessed with one subject (ORGs) and that is the only thing I've been able to connect with her on so far. I didn't learn much about Jaclyn the person so much as I have Jaclyn the ORG host, Jaclyn the ORG player (this girl gave me a fucking LIST OF RESULTS from the ELEVEN GAMES she has played in the course of THREE MONTHS, like...what??), Jaclyn the challenge beast, etc. etc. Apparently she plays more PM based games, which explains her paragraph length responses to my comparatively normal length questions. If you look up gamebot in the dictionary, I'm fairly certain you'll find Jaclyn's face as Fig. 2. Least favorable impression so far from the new people.
Ian: Ian, on the other hand, is my best impression from the new people. He's delightfully silly - our introduction involved brownies, pun wars, Dragonball Z references and his fascinating job crashing cars for a living. I'm not surprised he's survived on his old tribe - he's by far the easiest to get along with of the representatives from Luxembourg. Wow, is it ever going to suck voting him out.
